Escape Rooms on a Theme Park scale: The Future of Interactive Entertainment

Last week's Immersive Experience Network Summit showed just how far interactive entertainment has come - and more importantly, where it's heading.

When Escape Rooms Meet Theme Parks

Remember the thrill of solving your first escape room? Now imagine that same interactive excitement in a major theme park attraction. We caught up with our supplier Clockwork Dog, the minds behind some of the UK's best escape experiences. They're working on bringing that hands-on puzzle-solving magic to bigger venues, without losing what makes it special.

This chat also led to us exploring how JPSS can support their expansion into themed entertainment. Their COGS platform shows significant potential for fixed installations, and we're exploring ways to adapt their innovative software for permanent attractions - from hardware integration to high-volume operations.

Getting Real About What Works

The talks weren't just about the good stuff - they tackled the tough questions too. Why do some experiences fail? How do you fix technical problems without breaking the magic? These honest conversations between creators and technical experts showed that even the best experiences need solid technology backing them up. It's clear: as attractions get more ambitious, the systems controlling them need to be just as innovative.

A Fresh Take on Storytelling

Coming from the world of theme parks, it was eye-opening to see how immersive theatre and escape rooms approach entertainment. While traditional attractions have been around for decades, these emerging sectors are bringing something different - letting you be part of the story, not just watching it. Instead of passively experiencing a show or ride, your choices shape how things unfold. Every visit can be unique, making it an exciting contrast to traditional attractions - and one that's full of possibilities for the future of entertainment.

We caught up with many friends, partners, and customers, including Little Lion Entertainment, Electrosonic, and Conductr.  These intriguing chats reinforced our shared vision of creating captivating and memorable experiences. The key is to create experiences that feel spontaneous to guests while being robust and reliable behind the scenes. With the right technology and partnerships, we're poised to shape the future of interactive entertainment.
